Two conferences with urgent registration deadlines

1.) Conference: Adaptive Planning for Flooding and Coastal Change in VA: Legal and Policy Issues for Local Government– Registration deadline: September 9, 2013 (TODAY); Event: September 13, 2013 -- College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA – The conference will identify the legal issues created by recurrent flooding and sea level rise and what actions may be needed on a local and state level to begin addressing them.  Conference attendees will have the opportunity to respond to and inform a draft set of legislative proposals designed for the 2014 General Assembly. The Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic (VCPC) at William & Mary Law School, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Environmental Endowment (VEE) and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) are conference hosts. 2.) Workshop: What Landowners Should Know About Water Quality & Best Management Practices – Pre-registration deadline:September 10, 2013; Event: September 17, 2013 – Amherst, VA – Landowners interested in learning more about protecting water quality in are invited to this free workshop.  Attendees will hear from speakers from the Virginia Department of Forestry and Virginia Cooperative Extension discuss the Virginia Water Quality law, erosion control, and tax credits relating to creating/maintaining riparian buffers.  The workshop will include a field tour of a nearby property currently under conservation easement.  Free registration includes lunch and transportation to the field tour site.   To learn more, visit http://forestupdate.frec.vt.edu/landownerprograms/events/2013candifisher.pdf.
